Sunday Morning Offerings

Child Care 9:15am to 12:15pm
in the NEW nursery, McCahan 224

Childcare for infants through age 3 is provided every Sunday in the nursery by our Childcare Coordinator, Liz Serpentine, and a group of volunteers that love children.  Regular childcare begins at 9:15, but can be provided during 8:30 worship by request – simply let us know ahead of time.  Questions? Interested in volunteering? Contact Ashley at 610.543.4712 x118 or SPCchildren@swarthmorepres.org.

Church School 9:30am to 10:20am
in McCahan classrooms

Children age four through 5th grade attend classes that follow the "SPARK" curriculum.   SPARK is described on its website as “a Sunday school faith formation program designed to activate faith in children ages 2 through grade 6.   It’s innovative, intuitive and designed to ease the burden of planning and teacher preparation for Christian Education Directors and Sunday school teachers.”

Young Children (age 4-kindergarten)
Games, play, stories, and more in the PINK room (226) in McCahan Hall.

Elementary Children (1st-5th grades)
Activities that recognize all learning styles; we begin with "Energizers" led by some of our fun-loving and child-caring high schoolers.  Classes rotate through learning centers (Art, Music, Games, Science, etc.) set up in each of the classrooms along the hall, studying the same Bible story/lesson for 2 weeks at a time but through different media from Sunday to Sunday.

Inspiration and Entertainment
Are you having trouble getting your children out of bed to come to Sunday school?  Do you wonder if it's worth the struggle? John Weicher (Associate Pastor for Youth Ministry) and Ashley Kuly (Children's Ministry Coordinator) have put together some pretty entertaining and legitimately helpful videos on some of these very topics.  Check them out!

1)  What is Sunday School?   WHAT IS
2) What happens in Sunday School?   WHAT HAPPENS
3) What if my children don't want to go to Sunday School?   DONT WANNA GO

Help Wanted!
Volunteers are needed to lead and assist in all of our children's classes.  Signing up is easy and classes, beginning November 18, will be grouped in learning centers.  For the teens and adults leading them this means teaching  in your favorite element (science, music, art, games, drama, etc.) for 2 consecutive Sundays.  In fact, you will teach the same lesson twice - working with different children from one Sunday to the next.  Signing up is easy; check it out at Sign-up Genius!

Summer Schedule - June through Labor Day

Our summer schedule starts in Memorial Day weekend and lasts through the first weekend in September (Labor Day Weekend). Sunday morning offerings for children include Childcare for infants and toddlers and up to age three in the nursery during the 10:00 am worship service. For children ages four through 2nd grade there is a Christian enrichment program after A Time with Children, (about 15 minutes into the 10:0 am worship service) that generally includes a movie and related activity.

Older children are encouraged to remain in worship. There are several useful tools available to keep active hands busy and minds engaged. Children ages 4 through 13 will find a variety of books, children's Bibles, coloring worksheets, word games, and the like in the children's activity center located near the rear of Fellowship Hall.

Questions? Ideas? Offers? Please be in touch with Ashley Kuly (610.543.4712 x.118 or spcchildren@swarthmorepres.org) any time.  And check out what SPARK has to offer for yourself at SPARK.com
